Rapid Rehousing of displaced veterans and at-risk Veterans is the initial primary key to allowing displaced veterans to regain a sense of self-worth. The O.V.A.L Program will provide ongoing and detailed records of each accomplishment, each infraction, and overall quarterly summaries of each participant’s record at the institution. Clients are advised that the staff’s job is to provide the challenges, the opportunities, and the obstacles and then record their individual responses. Each client succeeds or fails on his own. Our obligations are to record an unbiased record of their performance. Throughout the year he spends in the program, the client develops a sense of community with those fellow clients that have “grown” with him and a sense of “belonging” to a process of betterment. At The O.V.A.L Program, we reinforce both of these feelings through a continuing involvement in the lives of its graduates. Each class is known by its year and its nickname. Class reunions and email connectivity are a part of The O.V.A.L Program’s ongoing commitment. The heart of that commitment is the “Graduates Resources, Education, Association and Tracking” (GREAT) program. Through this program, The O.V.A.L Program will offer its clients continuing assistance in job enhancement and development; career opportunities; educational opportunities; connection with the “WE” Graduates Association Support Group; financial planning and credit restoration for house ownership; other housing opportunities; and detailed demographic feedback for statistical tracking of their progress, obstacles, and failures. In addition, there is a 24-hour “crisis” emergency line” for a continuing umbilical link. The O.V.A.L Program Social Rehabilitation Program furnishes that missing link many participants need to cross the bridge to reality. So much of our lives today are fabricated through TV, Internet, games, and so on.
